Emergency Fund to help victims of the typhoon on August 2012 in Philippines
Over the past 20 years the Virlanie Foundation based in Manila (Philippines) has strived to get children off the streets, offering them a roof over their heads, psychological and medical follow-up, access to education, and arts and sports activities. It also accompanies these young adults as they advance towards full professional and social independence.
In August 2012, the Philippines were hit by a violent typhoon that caused extensive flooding. To help the population, the NGO Virlanie set up an emergency fund to help 64 families and their communities rebuild and furnish their homes in Manila.
The Accor Foundation* contributed €14,000 to this emergency fund. Thirty Sofitel Plaza Manila employees helped rebuild the houses for these families in difficulties (painting, light construction, etc.).
* In 2013, the Accor Foundation became Solidarity Accor.
